The Oberoi Resort, Mauritius, Mauritius * * * * * *
A unique experience of casual elegance within an atmosphere of absolute privacy and tranquillity
The Oberoi Group opened this luxury resort in Mauritius in November 2000 at the Baie aux Tortues on the west coast of the island. It is located in twenty acres of beautiful sub-tropical gardens with an impressive 600 metre ocean-front overlooking the turquoise sea.
Part of the exclusive associations of The Leading Hotels of the World as well as the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, The Oberoi, Mauritius offers a unique experience of casual elegance within an atmosphere of absolute privacy and tranquillity.
With its 48 Luxury Terrace Pavilions, 21 Luxury Villas - most of them with their own private pool - and two Royal Villas, the Oberoi is a wonderful collage of natural environments, vibrant colours and textures. The combination of meandering lush landscapes and gardens with the rustic and unusual architecture have been carefully integrated in a beautiful natural habitat.
Dining at the thatched roof open-air restaurant, with views of the sparkling ocean, presents a variety of cuisines. The blend of Creole, Oriental flavours and European dishes are complemented by an impressive wine list. The bar is in an exotic beachfront setting, having carefully incorporated an historic ruin preserved from the days of the French in the 18th century.
There are two tennis courts and two swimming pools both adjacent to the beach. A wide range of other activities includes wind surfing, water skiing, sailing, scuba diving and deep-sea fishing. Golf is available a short distance from the resort. The Spa provides relaxation and rejuvenating treatments in a holistic atmosphere and there is also a fully equipped gym.
