Staying in a villa in Mauritius can give you much more flexibility than staying in a hotel. All the villas that we recommend have a fully-serviced kitchen. They all come with the services of a maid six days a week. The maid cleans the villa, does all the washing, the washing up and makes the beds. In some villas the maids will cook lunch and dinner for a nominal fee.
We provide a welcome hamper on arrival for all our guests with the basic groceries. The first meal is provided for you. If you decide to book a villa-type holiday you may need to consider hiring a car. This is not just for sightseeing, but also for grocery shopping.
Most of our Mauritian villas are located near Grand Baie in the north. This is a bustling village with travel agencies, banks, restaurants, bars and a shopping mall called Sunset Boulevard! If you are staying in this area it is very easy to eat out or go shopping. It also has some good tax-free shopping. The bay itself is very attractive, with a panoramic view over the turquoise water. There is an excellent, modern, large supermarket called SuperU with free parking where you can buy pretty much everything you will need for self-catering.
There are quite a few local operations that offer boat trips, water skiing and snorkelling – ask us for details.
Please note: Villa guests are not allowed access to any hotels in Mauritius without a prior arrangement. Non-residents are not allowed access to any of the water sports or tennis courts in any of the hotels.
