The original Trou aux Biches hotel was completely demolished in 2009. It has been rebuilt with an investment of £60 million as a tropical village-style resort. A collection of pavilions sits in crescents throughout a shady palm grove. Each comprises of three to four spacious Suites, of which there are five categories… Junior Suites, Tropical Junior Suites, Family Suites, Beach Front Suites and Beach Front Senior Suites. Some Suites have outdoor showers tucked away among tropical greenery, adding a touch of romance! All Suites are spacious and sophisticated, with elegant design and furnishings. Trou aux Biches has six restaurants and offers high quality dining. All of the resort’s restaurants focus on specialities sourced around the globe, prepared by world-class chefs. They include authentic Thai and Indian restaurants and refined European gourmet cuisine. There is also beach BBQs and local delicacies.
The Spa is made up of individual thatched pavilions quietly tucked away amidst palm trees and centred around a tranquil pool. Treatments are with the classically luxurious Clarins brand. The spa is equipped with a balneotherapy room, an algotherapy room, and an Ayurvedic room. There are 17 massage cabins, including six double cabins and one dedicated to shiatsu and Thai massage. The Trou aux Biches Spa also has two saunas, two hammams and a hair and beauty salon for those finishing touches.
Trou Aux Biches is an idyllic location for memorable weddings and romantic honeymoons. There is a personal wedding coordinator on site who will liaise with couples from the time of booking to ensure every detail is utterly perfect. There is a choice of two beautiful wedding gazebos: one set on the beach and the other carved into an old Banyan tree.
Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Resort & Spa’s green credentials extend beyond the retention of the original gardens. The whole hotel has been redesigned to embrace and protect the beautiful environment in which it sits. New measures include 1,000 square metres of solar-heating panels to supply hot water. There is also a composting unit able to handle up to five tons of green waste every day.
Drinking water and cold-water pumps have been fitted with flow regulators that will produce a 40% drop in electricity use. There is a waste-water treatment plant recycles 450 cubic metres every day, of which 300 cubic metres is used for irrigation. The high-tech swimming pools are fitted with the latest computerised control systems. To enhance sustainability, a salt-water desalinisation plant provides a daily supply of 450 cubic metres of drinking water.
