The Residence, Mauritius

The Residence is the epitome of cool, contemporary elegance while maintaining the nostalgic style of the colonial 1920s

Hotel Overview

The Residence is situated on the east of the island, adjacent to one of the most beautiful white sand beaches on Mauritius. The architecture is based on a traditional Mauritian manor house. It has dramatic vaulted ceilings and a natural colour scheme, blending crisp linen and polished hardwood. This is in marked contrast to the colourful interiors of many of the other premier hotels on the island.

Unparalleled service is the key to a stay here. You are reminded of a bygone era with a personal valet appointed to each room.

Accommodation

The Residence’s accommodation is arranged on three levels. Modern minimalist furnishings enhance the 151 well-appointed and spacious bedrooms, scented with the gentle aroma of cinnamon and oriental spices. The opulence extends to magnificent marble bathrooms.

Facilities

Food at The Residence is top quality. The two restaurants, where dress is smart but casual, offer an excellent choice of continental cuisine.

Watersports feature prominently, with friendly and experienced instructors. The fully-equipped boathouse provides sailing, snorkelling and water-skiing opportunities. For a small extra charge, guests can try scuba diving among the colourful tropical fish in the shallow waters around the reef. Those preferring sporting pursuits on dry land may wish to perfect their tennis technique. The Residence offers qualified tennis instruction and the floodlit courts. Guests staying for at least seven nights are entitled to play one complimentary round of golf at Anahita Resort.

Relaxation is guaranteed at The Sanctuary, one of the best spas on the island. Mita, one of the finest therapists on Mauritius will introduce you to the traditional therapy, reiki. A daily yoga program encourages rest, while a full range of beauty treatments will help make the most of your leisure time.

The beauty and hair care at The Sanctuary has been designed by the prestigious French brand CARITA. This luxury French cosmetic brand has developed an exclusive concept called ‘Haute Beauté’.

The free Children’s Club is for youngsters aged four and over. It has a new programme of activities each day and runs from 10am to 6pm. Nannies are available for younger children and a baby-sitting service can be provided in the evening. A nominal fee is charged for these services.

Evening entertainment ranges from singers to the local sega group. The value of a good night’s sleep is recognised at this spa hotel and the music is discreet and ends at a civilised hour.

The Residence is the perfect retreat. A place to enjoy a relaxing holiday far from the stresses of everyday life.
