Le CanonnierLe Canonnier is situated in the north of Mauritius. The sheltered, historic peninsula enjoys year round sunshine and a fine climate with wonderful views across the coral reef and the north coastal islets to the bustling colourful village of Grand Baie, which provides a choice of shops offering designer clothes. It is set in 16 acres of exotic tropical gardens bordered by three beaches. All of the 284 rooms, which are on two levels ensuring privacy and stunning views, are equipped with en-suite bathrooms and controlled air-conditioning. Rooms are either sea or garden facing and each has a private terrace or balcony. There is a choice of two restaurants. The Frangipanier is the main restaurant and is surrounded by coconut palms providing a tropical setting for the ultimate dining experience. The Navigator, has a very special setting in an old colonial house with spectacular views out over the sea and the islets off the north of Mauritius. Here guests can enjoy a leisurely lunch or evening dinner in memorable surroundings. Le Canonnier offers a wide range of watersports and a glass bottom boat to view the coral and marine life. There are three tennis courts: two of which are flood lit. The Bob Marlin mini club is situated in a very historic armoury, which housed the gunpowder for the cannons that gave the peninsula its name, "La Pointe aux Canonniers." In earlier centuries these cannons guarded the approach to Grand Bay and served as protection for the north of the island. |
