Royal Malewane

Luxury meets the wild in the heart of Africa’s finest bushveld where Royal Malewane's expert guides and trackers ensure intimate game experiences and close sightings of the big five. Sumptuous dining is a signatory feature, as the lodge is the first to boast a Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Blazon for cuisine. Best of all, being transported to the splendor of the African bushveld is effortless with established and easily accessible flights and road routes.

The staff to guest ratio of three to one and attention to detail is exceptional. They greet you when you first walk in and attend to any need, going that extra mile to make sure you are comfortable. The food is excellent and varied and can be enjoyed under the stars in a Bedouin tent bedecked with Moroccan lanterns if you wish. The staff always aim to please.

Surrounded by the untamed African bush, The Waters of Royal Malewane Bush Spa provides therapeutic massage, luxurious body treatments and hydrotherapy by internationally-qualified therapists. The Spa's philosophy draws on the much-celebrated healing powers of water. All hydrotherapy treatments make use of untainted, mineral-rich water, sourced from an underground stream that flows through the reserve.

The Dining area and Lounge are splendid and overlook the watering hole. Royal Malewane has an almost Victoriana feel: you could easily imagine a great white hunter staying there. Guests are invited to relax around the heated pool in the central courtyard, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Africa. Positioned around the courtyard are the treatment rooms, a fully equipped gymnasium, steam room, hot and cold African baths, jacuzzi and casitas where guests can enjoy the treatment of their choice, or simply relax in private with only the gentle whispers of flowing water to disturb them.

Boasting unparalleled views, the Royal Malewane Suites are the pinnacle of refinement and opulence. Six Suites each accommodate two guests and have wooden decks, rim-flow pool and thatched gazebos.

The palatial, air-conditioned bedroom and sitting room features a canopied king-size bed and fireplace respectively. This is complemented by an extravagant bathroom with a window-side Victorian bath, and indoor and outdoor showers. Elevated walkways link the suites to the main camp. Only the wildlife witnesses guests relaxing in these private, ultra-luxurious suites.

For something a bit special, the Royal and Malewane Suites each accommodate four guests in two en-suite bedrooms with private lounge and dining facilities. The suites with their own private rim flow pools, decks and gazebos are amongst the biggest and most luxurious in Africa. Complimentary services include a private butler and chef, private game drives and up to four complimentary massages per suite per day.

Guests wishing to arrive incognito may request the use of a helicopter or executive jet. The design of the suites ensure you are totally private but completely open to the game and the bush. Guest enthuse they feel at peace and enjoy a rare sense of relaxation…perhaps the opportunity to watch an elephant drinking from your pool has something to do with it.

I love the fact that there aren't that many rooms so the place has an intimate feel. It is so pleasant to enjoy a fabulous meal and see a group of elephants walking by at the same time. Liz Biden has created fabulous, one-of-a kind hotels in her Royal Portfolio that are especially wonderful for honeymooners and those seeking that special holiday of a lifetime.
