The Cellars - Hohenort
The Cellars - Hohenort is a beautiful and expansive old estate turned into a charming luxury hotel situated in the Constantia region of Cape Town. It is set in nine acres of sweeping landscape with its own vineyards and Table Mountain as an impressive backdrop. The sculpted gardens, complete with paths for guests to take a relaxing stroll, have won many prizes and you can see why. The Cellars has two pools and two restaurants. The Cape Malay Restaurant, which can be found in the original house, serves truly South African food and the waiters know everything there is to know about each dish which makes The Cellars a really relaxing place to stay.
The accommodation is superb. The 53 rooms consist of premier and standard suites, luxury and double rooms.The rooms are decorated in different styles and located throughout the estate in separate buildings, some with balconies looking out to the pool, others to the wine estate, others to the rose garden.
The Cellars conduct private wine tastings from their extensive cellar for the enjoyment of their guests and these are usually held in the Martini Bar and hosted by the sommelier. After the wine tasting guests are shown to their dinner table in the wine cellar below the Greenhouse Restaurant. The stairs are lit by candles and there are petals all around the table. A true romantic experience and a wonderful warm atmosphere.The food is absolutely superb and the wine is exquisite.
The Cellars - Hohenort is situated in close proximity to beautiful forest walks, golf courses and the magnificent Kirstenbosch Gardens and the best peninsula beaches. It is only 15 to 20 kilometres away from the city centre and Cape Town International Airport and takes about 20 minutes to reach.
