Southern Africa

Within four to six hours flight from Mauritius or the Seychelles, or 11 hours from London, you could be on safari in prime South African wilderness, taking a cable-car to the top of Table Mountain, sampling fine Pinot Noir in the Cape Winelands, or driving yourself at your own pace along the famous Garden Route. South African hospitality is second to none and perfectly complements that of Mauritius, as does the luxury of the hotels and lodges.

Within easy reach from either Johannesburg or Cape Town are the prime wilderness areas of Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Botswana had a phenomenal season in 2004 with the biggest flooding of the Okavango Delta for more than 20 years, drawing in wildlife in an otherwise parched, arid country.

Namibia has desert scenery without rival. Unlike the Kalahari Desert, which covers much of Botswana and eastern Namibia, the Namib Desert which runs up the western Atlantic seaboard of Namibia has mountainous dunes, and unique desert adapted wildlife. Combined with Mauritius or the Seychelles you get to experience the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic coasts on the same trip!

At the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe the awesome Victoria Falls is a true gem of any visit to Southern Africa and can be easily added into any itinerary, no matter what country you visit in this region. Further downstream from Victoria Falls the Lower Zambezi offers fantastic canoe safaris, where you can combine canoeing with game drives, walks and, of course, luxury accommodation.

Our team will be very happy to help put together an adventurous and stimulating schedule for you.

Family Safaris

Kids love animals, so why not take them on safari? They’ll love you even more for taking them and they’ll be bragging to all their friends at school about all the different animals they’ve seen. And it’s educational too!

However, many safari lodges do not allow children under the age of 12 to stay in their camps, either for safety issues because the lodge is unfenced (therefore wild animals can traverse through the property), or because a management decision has been taken to have a more adult and exclusive atmosphere. Fortunately more and more lodges are openly embracing families with children of all ages, and have developed creative activities and game viewing to suit short attention spans. We have selected some of the best lodges geared up for families.

First steps

Matching the size of the African continent, the choices and options available are vast and we cannot hope to produce a single brochure covering all possible destinations. For us to do that, we would need a brochure the size of a telephone directory! Instead, we encourage you to call us so that we can find out a little bit more about you and your expectations, allowing us to tailor an itinerary to fit your specific needs.

We will then send you a quotation with individual lodge or hotel brochures, as well as links to the web sites of each property.
